Creating Custom Criteria

Our Custom Criteria tool allows you to create a personalized set of grading criteria for your assignments. This tool is available to anyone with admin or org_admin access.

Note: If you are currently on the student side of the platform, you will first need to click Back to Admin in the top navigation bar to access these settings.

How to Create Custom Criteria

1. Access the Dashboard

Click the Criteria button in the top navigation bar.

2. Initiate Creation

Select the New Custom Criteria button.

3. Define Your Requirements

In the pop-up window, fill out the following details:

  • Criteria Title: Give your requirement a clear, concise name (e.g., "Patient Empathy").
  • Criteria Explanation: Use the text editor to provide a detailed description of what a successful response looks like.
  • Set Criteria Weight: Use the slider to determine the score impact:
  • Slightly Important (1): Minor impact.
  • Important (2): Standard weighting.
  • Very Important (3): High impact.

4. Save Your Work

Click the Save Custom Criteria button.

5. Add to Your Assignment

Once saved, you can add your custom criteria to any assignment as the final step before publishing.

Why Use Custom Criteria?

Using custom criteria allows you to move beyond generic grading and evaluate student submissions based on your specific requirements. By defining unique weights and detailed explanations, you ensure that every student is measured against the exact skills and professional standards taught in your curriculum.
